What is this place?

SC Dimensions was conceived as a place for enthusiasts to share information about all aspects of the slot car racing hobby. The idea began as a way to share dimensional measurements of slot cars and quickly grew into a way to share information about all aspects of the hobby.

SC Dimensions is not meant to take the place of any of the great forums on the internet. (In fact, you may find articles here about those forums with links that will take you to them.) Instead, it is intended to be a complimentary resource that will make technical information easier to find, maintain, and share. At SC Dimensions you can search for and browse cars and motors using 65 different properties such as wheelbase, installed motor, tested or rated motor RPM, car manufacturer, scale model manufacturer, or livery. You can also share your own technical information related to slot cars, motors, tires, tracks, layouts, accessories, scenery, how-to articles, club information, and anything else related to the hobby.

How do we do it?

SC Dimensions is built on the popular MediaWiki software. It is enhanced by the Semantic MediaWiki extension, which allows users to enter and search for specific items such as a wheelbase measurement, tire diameter, wheel track width, motor type, or racing series. SC Dimensions also supports general translation software Wiki-style articles for topics that don't require detailed dimensional information.

SC Dimensions is not affiliated with any manufacturer. You will find information about products from many manufacturers here, with no favor intended for any. Because we are independent, SC Dimensions supports itself by the advertisements you see on many of the pages.

A brief note about registration

One of the greatest enemies of any Wiki is vandalism. In order to discourage vandalism, SC Dimensions requires registration before any users are allowed to create or update articles. Don't fear for your personal information, however. Real names and email addresses are optional, and if you choose to share that information you can rest assured that we will not share it with or sell it to anyone.
